Hi!

Welcome to my newsletter. You're receiving this because I have some reason to believe (either through prior acquaintance or specific request) that you are interested in what I'm doing musically and/or in the details of my upcoming gigs.

If you would prefer NOT to receive future mailings from me of this type, please click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this message. I promise not to be sending more than one a month (if that) unless a gig suddenly materializes with less than 3 weeks' notice, and then only to local folks who might attend. Or if you'd rather just check in yourself occasionally, I'll also post info about upcoming gigs in the Performing area of my website: http://www.BettyWiderski.com

For those of you going "Huh? What's she talking about?!" - in addition to my day job wrangling computers I am now also pursuing various musical opportunities, including playing in recording sessions for local pop musicians and in live shows. If you'd like to read more about how I've come to be doing this, see the article I wrote about it for my violin teacher at her website: http://www.meredithcooper.com/betty.html

So now to what's up: Most of my activities in the past month have been studio-related (and literally "in the closet" for one session recorded in a home-made sound booth that was the guy's bedroom closet!). Upcoming gig:

Date/Time: Monday, Sept. 15th, 7pm
Where: TT the Bear's Place
10 Brookline St. (Central Sq.)
Cambridge MA
What: Kimchee Records presents a CD Listening
Party for Paula Kelley's new release
And Betty?: I'll be playing in a string quartet for
this "swanky cocktail party" event, and
I have arranged two of Paula's songs
for the string quartet.
Admission: Free! "Swanky attire requested"

That's it so far for this month. If you'd like to hear some of my recent playing, visit my website for some MP3s from a recent improvisation workshop.

I'm looking for a band to join on a more permanent basis, and am open to doing recording sessions and guest appearances in pretty much any type of music (in the past few weeks I've done hip-hop, bluegrass, jazz, folk, classical and pop!), so if you know of anyone looking for an electric or acoustic violinist or violist, please send them to my website for more information.

Happy Fall!
Betty
